Duration: 2 to 4 hours
We'll work with an indigo dye vat made from indigo grown right here on the farm. Waking up a vat is its own small ritual. We'll do it together and talk through the chemistry that makes it work. Then we fold, tie, and dip, pulling our pieces out to watch the color bloom in the air as the indigo oxidizes. You build the depth you want, dipping until your blue arrives.
Every class includes a farm tour and overview of current growing operations.
What to bring: Sun and bug protection, water and snacks if you'd like. Wear clothes you don't mind getting colorful. Porta john on site. Dress for the farm and the season. Gloves and aprons available.
Take home:
- 2 organic cotton bandanas (most dates) or 1 organic cotton t-shirt (October 25) — noted at booking, t-shirt size collected at checkout
- A one-sheet reference guide covering all processes from the class
- Additional organic cotton blanks available to purchase for $20 each, up to 1 additional per person Click Here
Attending 2 or more indigo classes or purchasing an Indigo Share earns you the Blue Hands badge from The ESBA
All sessions count toward ESBA membership.
Groups welcome. Contact us for private bookings.
Notes: Classes held in shade structure on site. Cancelled for rain with full refund.
